Today's plan, for your parts
A morning habit: check how you feel toward your parts, tell them the plan for the day, and ask if anyone has a question, a worry or something to add.
6 steps, drawn from 3 books on IFS.
Checked: each step was read against the book passages it rests on, and stays inside them.

- How you feel toward them. This is a small morning habit, for anyone it helps. First, check how you feel toward your parts today. Open, curious, okay? If a critical or impatient feeling is there, ask the part holding it to relax back for a few minutes.
- Ask them to listen. Turn toward your parts, whoever is around. Let them know you know they are there, and ask them to listen for a minute.
- Tell them the plan. Tell them what today holds, plainly and in order: getting up, work, appointments, anything hard, the evening. Say it the way you would to someone coming along with you.
- Anyone have a question? Ask them: does anybody have a question, a worry, or something to add? Then wait a little, without answering for them. Some people hear nothing for a long while, and others hear something sooner. If something does come, note it.
- How loud is it now? The same scale you used at the start. A drop is worth noticing, and no change is fine too: your parts know what today holds.
- Into your day. That is all for this morning. As far as you can, do what you told them: that is how they learn the plan is real, so promise only what you can keep.
