Walks ยท one sitting, about 2 min
A Self-moment
A short walk, under five minutes. Rest, with a way out for any part that does not want stillness, then look for a moment of clear seeing that is already here.
5 steps, drawn from 6 books on IFS.
A draft: every passage it quotes is in its book, but its own wording has not yet been checked against them.

- It is not made, it is already here. A Self-moment is a moment of clear seeing. You do not produce it. It shows up when the striving and busyness let up for a bit. This walk is short: rest, then look for one that is already here.
- Rest for a minute. Sit or lie however suits you, eyes open or closed, and let the busyness slow down. There is nothing to do. If your attention strays, come back like it is no big deal. If a part does not want this, say so below.
- A moment that is already here. Look for a moment of clear seeing, now or earlier today: nothing needing to happen, and the busyness dropped. It can be small. A body clue may help. Self tends to feel spacious and open, where a part's grip feels tight. If none comes, that is a real answer too.
- It stays. If a moment came, it passing does not mean Self left. If none came, Self is still said to be underneath everything, whether or not you feel it.
- Before you go. Thank any part that came forward or made room, if that feels true. If you mean to come back, tell them so. When you are ready, come back to the room: feel your feet and look around.
- Ask it for a little room. Turn toward the part kindly. Ask if it would open a little space for a few minutes. It can stay close, and it does not have to.
- Seen, and not today. If a younger part showed itself, let it know you saw it and will not forget it. Today is not the day to go to it. If you want, jot a note so you can find your way back.
